Over the past few weeks, I’ve been studying the book of Joshua and have been BLOWN AWAY by this man’s faith.
Just to give you a brief recap…
After God shows Joshua a specific vision to accomplish, Joshua activates his faith by taking bold steps based on God’s promises and leads the Israelites across the Jordan River into the promised land.
Right in the middle of battle against the Amorites, Joshua faces a decision as the sun begins to descend toward the horizon. He is determined to completely destroy the enemy and isn’t willing to risk a single soul slipping away in the night. So what does he do? He BOLDY asks the Lord to STOP THE SUN! And IT STOPS!
Let me show you!
Joshua 10:13-14 reads, “So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies. . . The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. . . Surely the Lord was fighting for Israel!”
WOW! Talk about BOLD!
It makes you think, you know? Could it be that God intends for us to exhibit that same audacious faith, daring to believe Him for the impossible? To move mountains on our behalf? To part the Red Sea? To STOP THE SUN?!
What if we actually lived our lives this way? What if we learn to cling firmly to God’s vision and activate our faith by taking BOLD steps based on His promises? Can you even imagine?!?!
To be completely honest, when I first heard about the race, I looked over the application, saw the amount I needed to raise and quickly closed my laptop! How God?! There’s NO way! But God just wouldn’t take my NO for an answer.
You see, He’s given me a vision to serve people of every nation. I dream to help the world! This is why I was created. The thought alone ignites my fire and my soul begins to dance!
So why didn’t I move sooner? What kept me bound? ME! I was too busy figuring out how I could make it happen instead of standing firm on what He’s promised me.
At last, after a year and a half, I’m in Haiti doing what I love most! I see you, God!
So what happened between the day I first glanced over my application and this very moment? I learned to say YES. I learned to MOVE!
See, the thing is, we don’t need to have it all planned out. That’s our issue. I don’t know the details of my future, or where the remaining $6,600 is coming from, but I’m choosing to seize His vision for my life knowing that His power is made perfect in my weakness. I’m learning to act on my faith, instead of simply saying I trust Him.
