Yesterday, our hosts and team were invited to a Pastor’s church to visit and fellowship. The church was located on a beautiful hill in a little town called Patagual where you can see the breath-taking view of The Andes Mountains and Los Andes, Chile. We were served fresh homemade empanadas, dessert, and tea while enjoying each other’s time and getting to know one another. We played Uno, sang some worship songs, and had plenty of laughters.
At the corner of the table was a quiet man sitting down by the name of Gabriel. The Pastor said that Gabriel is by far the most loyal and consistent member of the church. He never misses a Sunday service and he’s always present at every church event, meeting, and social gathering. The most interesting thing about this man is that he remembers how to get to church and walk there by memory even though he cannot physically see. He doesn’t let his blindness stop him from serving the Lord.
As the afternoon passed and it was almost time to say goodbye, our team had the opportunity to pray for the group we met. As I led the prayer out loud, I felt the Holy Spirit pour down in the room as I was speaking life into Gabriel’s condition. I didn’t care who was around and what they thought of me – I was hysterically weeping in tears, passionately asking God to let this blind man see. I have never prayed a prayer so bold and direct in front of a group of people asking God for something that was physically impossible with our human eyes. “If the bible says you can move mountains, you can split the seas, you can raise the dead, then heal this blind man and let him see in the name of Jesus.”
For the first time, I asked God for something physically impossible to do on the spot. I was full of faith, giving it all I got, crying out to Him to show off His supernatural powers. There was a release of “fire” in the air and as we finished praying, we can see all the tears down our faces, still overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit’s presence in the room. We then asked Gabriel how he was feeling and if he can reach for the table next to him. As he tried reaching, he struggled and wasn’t exactly sure where the table was.
After realizing nothing changed and he was still blind, there was a shift in my heart. I was so encouraged by this moment regardless if God healed him or not. I realized that I have never prayed a prayer so bold in my life and He was teaching me how to be confident in Him whether we see the results right away or not. He gave me God-confidence and He strengthened my faith and He gave me a promise that one day I would be able to witness the unimaginable!
I know deep down in my heart, God answers prayers whether it may look impossible with our human eyes. I also know that He works on his timetable, not ours. Right now at this very moment, He is teaching me to stay persistent and patient until He is ready to show off all the “signs and wonders” He has planned for this trip. Until then, I will remain confident and faithful to Him and I will continue to obey what He is asking me to do, one day at a time. If He tells me to pray for 100 blind men before I can witness 1 person get healed, I am going to do it. I know He will reveal His signs and wonders in His perfect timing!
I am also confident that one day I will be writing a new blog and boasting about how God does the impossible. Stay tuned!!
