“Jaclyn, you love words. You hold onto words the Lord gives people to give you. You see the power in them. You will use them to write songs–and you will lead worship in the future.” ~ Carolyn Miller (1.26.18)
While I was in Cambodia a complete stranger spoke this over me. She didn’t know who I was at all and I didn’t know who she was. I thought she was just trying to encourage me to get on stage and lead worship in front of 4 world race squads that next night. Jesus was right there with us as we talked and prayed together all night long for peace, courage, and perspective. I struggled these past 9 months, trying to find my purpose, searching in every word and in every relationship. I had returned home so confused and let down because I was without a job, without my closest relationships, without a life plan, and without a clue.
Months and countries later, today, I looked back in my journals and realized I had held on to every encouraging note, every picture, and every spoken word I had received. I remembered my conversation with this woman so vividly–every word she spoke over me. And she was right. Currently songwriting for the kingdom about how He has ordained a purpose for each of us. My purpose is this: to glorify Jesus in every word and deed now and forever and make ready the way for the King. He is coming, let us welcome Him with worship.
