During the sessions or throughout the day at Training Camp if there were any pressing thoughts or phrases I wanted to take with me on my race I wrote them on the first two opening pages of my journal. In parenthesis I will explain what they mean to me.
- he makes all things new (nothing is too dirty for God, his love and restoration power is endless.)
- let go my soul and trust in him (So many times I think I can do it on my own, rather than just give it all to him and rest in the peace he has for me.)
- be a learner (I want to take this whole trip in and learn from the good and the bad. I want to be in awe of God’s beauty. I want to continually learn God’s character and know him as a father.)
- don’t turn my switch off (I want to be a light that’s always turned on. Missions is a lifestyle.)
- I don’t want to got through the motions and come out relatively unchanged (My deepest fear of going on the World Race.)
- make me an open vessel (I want to be an open vessel so that God and use me and form me into the person he wants me to be.)
- reach the heart not the mind (Unless God is in the center of the conversation it will be useless because ultimately he is the one who reaches the heart. Only one can save and His name is JESUS.)
- fully known & fully loved (God is amazing!!!)
- shame losses its power when it is expressed (darkness can’t do anything but flea when it comes into contact with the light.)
- always take time to praise God (God does so much and how often do I forget to take a few breathes and simply praise and thank God for what he is doing.)
- even still (I mess up, but even still God’s grace and love for me is bigger, he still welcomes me with open arms)
- if you have a ready heart you will understand what He has to say
- how can I trust and respect my authority (My leaders and coaches are there for me to help me on this journey. They have sacrificed so much and I need to serve and respect them in everything.)
- what can I do to serve those around me (So many times I focus on what I can get out of something or someone. But God calls us do be bigger and greater than ourselves and serve others as Christ first served us.
- we are the generation that will reclaim the church (We are experiencing the power of God and are ready to fight for his name.)
