I am so excited to announce that I have been given the opportunity to Alumni Squad Lead for the World Race in this next season of life!
I could not be more excited about it! 🙂
Okay, now that, that is out of the way, let me try to answer a few questions you may have about the trip.
What is Alumni Squad Leading?
Alumni Squad leading is focused on discipling, supporting and serving a brand new set of racers, (in this case 25) while living life alongside them for the first five months of their race. I will get to spend one month with each of the four teams where I will do daily ministry with them, have 1 on 1’s with them, pray with them, challenge them etc. It is similar to what I got the opportunity to do being a Raised up Squad Leader for 7 months of my race, but with a new set of racers and for the first portion of their race!
Why?
Before coming on the World Race I knew that I wanted to live my life being missionally minded and do some sort of ministry but had no idea what kind. I hoped that going on the race and getting exposure to 11 different ministries would give me greater clarity on what type of ministry the Lord had for me to do, and where. Then, about a month after I had been asked to be a Raised up Squad Leader the Lord revealed more to me about what he wanted me to do. He spoke to me that the ministry that he wanted me to take part in now and in the future was right in front of me this whole time-it was with my fellow believers. As I continued on the race the Lord confirmed that he wanted me to pursue discipleship relationships with young adults in order to teach and be taught as well. And when I was asked to Alumni Squad Lead during my race and prayed about it for a while I became confident this was the next step that the Lord was calling me to.
How long will I be out on the field?
I will be on the field for the first five months of their journey, (October-February) and then I will get to fly out to visit them on the field two other times over the eleven-month period.
How much do I have to fundraise?
I have been asked to fundraise $6,500.00 for the whole trip, which includes flights, food, and lodging for the time that I will be on the field with the squad.
When will I launch?
I will be launching in the first week of October after around a week of training.
What countries will I visit?
I will visit Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina, which I am super, excited about. I visited South America a few years ago and absolutely loved it and have also always wanted to become fluent in another language and hope that this will give me a chance!
This is only a small glimpse of what is to come and I cannot wait to share more with you all as time goes on!
I will also be writing a new and updated support letter once I return to the states in a few days and plan to send those out soon!
If you have any more questions, want to receive a support letter, or know how you can take part in this next journey etc. Please let me know!
Feel free to email me at [email protected] or comment below. I’d absolutely love to talk to you about it.
Thank you so much for reading this blog and being a part of my journey!! I am so grateful for it! 🙂
