I don’t think I can pinpoint a lot of times in my life that I have been absolutely blown away with excitement. I look back at my life and I can see so many moments where I’ve been really excited or even extremely happy, but I don’t think I’ve ever had an experience worth using the words ‘I was blown away’. Fortunately, I think it’s a by-product of my parents blessing me throughout my childhood and I am so incredibly thankful for all that they allowed me to experience. The only unfortunate thing from it is it’s much more difficult for me to be blown away.
I had the honor of experiencing a group of 42 girls be absolutely blown away with excitement yesterday.
It was a day filled with dancing in sprinklers, swimming in a pool for the very first time, eating from an endless buffet and seemingly endless amounts of ice cream, a brief interruption from a wicked thunderstorm, running wild around a playground and ending the night with snacks and naps on the bus ride home. It was filled with laughter, dancing, more laughter, smiles we just couldn’t wipe off our faces and some very happy girls wearing very beautiful princess dresses. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced more excitement from any humans, small or large, than I did with these girls.
A day later and my cheeks are still a bit sore from all the smiling that was done.
I pray that everyone is blessed with a day like this at least once in their lifetime. I pray that these girls would be able to hold onto the excitement they experienced. I pray that they come to the understanding that a life lived pursuing God would bring much more excitement in their lifetimes. I pray for many more days these girls get to feel like the princesses they are.

This month we’ve been working with an organization called Rescue Pink that works towards educating and empowering young girls through after school programs and summer camps. My team has been lucky enough to help run the summer camp and we get to teach, get crafty, play games, watch movies and have some much needed naps in the middle of it all each day. Each year Rescue Pink puts on a Picnic Day where the girls get to dress up and spend the day playing and eating their hearts desires! A very special ‘thank you’ to Rescue Pink for reminding these girls that they are princesses and that they are strong, beautiful and brave!
