I am literally living in Jamaica right now, but I am figuratively living in a pressure cooker. This pressure cooker is speeding up the process of growth and learning and healing and maximizing my time getting to know God more intimately and in turn learning more about myself and my relationships with those around me. In short, I am learning a lot about a lot of things. Most of the time it’s quite difficult to even voice what I’m going through, let alone be able to write a cohesive blog about it.

Let me give it a try though.

I recently read a book that a lot of people on my squad have been devouring, titled The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson. It’s a book that has taught me a lot about a lot of things, but I’ll fill you in on one thing for now. God wants us to dream BIG with Him. God doesn’t want us to be praying about stuff we know we have a handle on. That’s not honoring to how glorious and powerful He is if we’re just asking for stuff we know we can get ourselves if we just put in the effort. He wants us to pray and dream big outlandish dreams with Him. He’s asking for those dreams we have that seem so ridiculous and so impossible that there’s no way we could ever achieve them on our own. God is ecstatic to be able to answer those prayers for you because in turn they give Him the glory. There’s a lot we can do without God, but that life seems quite boring to me. If we’re inviting God into the mix and into our big dreams then nothing is impossible!

Now, I don’t mean that just because I pray for $100 million that God’s going to get right on that and answer my prayer pronto. I’m telling you now, it ain’t happening. People tend to look at Psalm 37:4 where it says ‘Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart’ and misconstrue it. But like… I really do want $100 million. If you’re not delighting in the Lord and if you’re not aligning yourself with Him then you’re desires aren’t matching up with God’s desires for you. As we align ourselves with Him then God gets to reveal Himself to you more and more. As you delight yourself in God, He gets to invited you into His big dreams for you!

I recently wrote out a couple pages worth of dreams and desires I’ve had in my heart for some time. Some of them make sense and don’t sound too crazy, but there are some things on that list that just seem ridiculous and impossible to me. Here’s the thing though, I continue to grow closer to God and through that He’s revealing to me that He wants to give me the desires of my heart because they are His desires.

Here’s the biggest thing I’ve learned this week: God funds His plans.

It doesn’t matter how out there your dreams and desires may seem to you. As long as you’re walking it with God and inviting Him into the process, He is going to show up in ways you couldn’t even dream up on your own.
