How’s Your Soul?

It’s Monday May 14, 2018 and I have been contemplating this next blog for over a month. Searching for the right words to say, looking for the perfect title (He already gave it to me) and just wanting it to be right, to be good, to be perfect. Well, we are halfway through May and I was going to put it off again when the Lord whispered to me, “Don’t Delay. Do It Anyway.” These 5 words have been part of the echo of the Lord over my life in this recent season and rightfully so. Like the God head 3-in-1 we are 3 part beings. Spirits that have a soul and live in a body. It is important that we know, believe and understand that about ourselves. American Christian culture has a way of emphasizing the body(flesh) and the spiritual things/activity but sort of leaving the soul out in limbo. But why?

Why do we not talk about the deepest part of us that affects our every day life? Think about it. The soul is comprised of our mind, will and emotions and literally guides us as we walk out this thing called life. It’s dangerous and detrimental to leave the soul out there doing as it pleases unchecked and unsubmitted to the Lord. When we come to Christ our spirit is automatically saved, our soul BEGINS the process of salvation (sanctification, transformation, formation etc.) and our body will be saved upon Christ’s return. So wait, Faith-Tomi what are you saying? I thought that once I got saved everything would be fixed, my problems solved and I would be perfect! Yeah fam, me too. LOL. However, there is so much more depth to the choice of salvation and it is not about God coming like a genie, wiping away all your pains and making all your dreams and wishes come true. Jesus did not die to make bad people good or flawed people perfect. He died to make Dead people Live (John 3:16; John 10:10).

What I’m saying is that part of our time here on earth is the journey of our soul being conformed to the will of God and our body being subjected to God’s rule and the Truth of His Word. It is a time of transformation. According to Pastor Chad Craig in his book, “Divine Design for Discipleship”, the only way we can experience transformation for our souls is to CONTINUALLY visit the cross of Christ for every area that we need to be restored. Continually. This phase of our lives, transformation, pertains to the process of our souls being restored in order for our conduct and behavior to be transformed. IT IS A PROCESS PEOPLE. A process of Faith, Love Obedience, Worship (F.L.O.W) and DELIVERANCE…

Oh snap! She said the “D” word! Yes I did and hear me out before you check out. In his book, Pastor Chad teaches that deliverance is the salvation of our soul and the putting off the deeds of the old man. Only as our souls are renewed will our conduct choices and actions line up with who we have already been created to be through our new birth in Christ  Jesus. (pause) So, you mean that I won’t stop cussing people out the day I get saved? I wont automatically lose a taste for alcohol or drugs? I won’t want to be around God’s people all the time or go to church? I won’t stop having sex on sight? I won’t be humble and wise and selfless? I won’t love those who hate me? I won’t release all anger hate and frustration? Faith! I’m saved! I’m a Christian! I’m a believer! I should be fixed! I should be perfect! I should be a Saint! WHAT DO YOU MEAN?

Bro. Sis. Take a moment and just breathe in, breathe out like my pastor always says. You were not saved to be perfect (by the worlds definition). You were saved to be restored back to RIGHT relationship with The Creator and to display His glory on the earth that others may be saved. Some things for certain people, yes will be automatic but MOST things will be a choice and a journey. Not EVERYTHING in your life requires deliverance. Some of it just requires you to read your Word, Pray, Fast (Yes I said the “F” word too. Breathe in Breathe out, LOL), Give and Obey in Faith and Love as you Worship God with your Life.

” Don’t Delay. Do It Anyway.”

Others, require ALL of that and deliverance and that is a GOOD thing. Deliverance is the inheritance of the children of God (Galatians 5:13-14)! It is our RIGHT to live breathe and walk in FREEDOM! We should REJOICE at the fact that we have the opportunity to be delivered, healed and set free DAILY. Deliverance is not a taboo or scary experience and it is NOT a one time thing. I repeat it is NOT a one time thing. Deliverance (before and after the initial experience) is a choice and it is a process and it has to be maintained. We have to work/walk out our soul’s salvation (Philippians 2:12-13). WOW! I just got a new revelation of this scripture while typing. Thank you Jesus!

Deliverance is a process of renewing of the mind, emotional and mental healing, allowing Christ to be Lord over all of you and all of your life and so much more. Deliverance is the children’s bread (Matthew 15:26) and it is good to eat of it daily! Deliverance is necessary for every believer of Jesus Christ that wants to shift from being just a believer to being a disciple. How can I go out to the nations for 11 months and offer people bread I have not yet eaten of? How can I tell them taste and see that the Lord is good and my appetite has not been changed? How can I fulfill the GREAT COMMISSION (Matthew 28:19-20) If I have not yet submitted to His mission (SUBMISSION)?

Deliverance is a journey and has to be maintained, but before you can maintain a thing you have to choose it. Choose life, or death will choose you. Deliverance is His will for all of us that profess Him as Savior AND Lord. Remember one of my previous blogs about His Lordship? Yeah…that part. This is my current season. This is what I am walking out with the Lord. This is my journey of the transformation of my soul so that I can be fit for the Masters use from the inside out. Spiritually, Mentally, Emotionally, Physically, Relationally & Financially He desires that we are strong, fit, healed, free & WHOLE. So, today I ask you, How Is Your Soul?
