And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 1 Cor 15:14

Happy Easter my friends. May one question occupy your minds: is Christ risen? No single question in the whole of history has ever mattered more.

Although Easter is a few days behind us now, I hope one question can occupy your minds: Is Christ risen? No single question in the entirety of history has ever mattered more.

As I reflect on what the true meaning of Easter is, my mind draws upon its origin and what it represents. Several times Christ foretold his death and resurrection while he was on earth. It is undeniable that Jesus Christ was a man and the Gospels are an account of His life. People may dispute this fact but thorough objective research will prove in favor of the gospels.

But I do not want to get into apologetics or off on other tangents. I just want one prevailing thought/question. If Jesus died and his body was robbed from the grave and he was not resurrected, then Christianity is just like any other religion. All my preaching and pursuits would then be in vain and I would not be so inclined to even attend church on Easter as a cultural courtesy. Furthermore, Christianity then could be stereotyped as ‘one of the religions’ and can be viewed in a nice little mental box to help us try to comprehend life and what role religion may or may not play into it.

Mark 8:31- He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.

However, if Jesus did die and then proceeded to be resurrected from the grave… wow. Then this changes everything. If Jesus did die then this would be consistent with his teachings and prophecies and would further validate the rest of His claims throughout scripture. This would mean that God the Father, God the son, and God the Holy Spirit (3 in 1, confusing but biblical) are the One and only true God and this would separate Christianity from ‘one of the religions’ to the one actual reality. Although many questions may ensue, first and foremost we must ask ourselves, ‘has Christ risen’? That is a question I hope everyone will humbly ask earnestly and sincerely with a softened and open heart.

As for me, I am currently sitting somewhere in Thailand at a girls’ orphanage where they worship Jesus wholeheartedly every night after dinner and then, one by one, hug me and say goodnight. I’m currently sitting on the back porch of our cottage overlooking the mountainous terrain of Thailand, and my answer is YES. I absolutely and undeniably believe that Christ has risen.
