Zimbabwe,
Hey again friends and family we are in Zimbabwe, Africa this month. All I can say is praise the Lord. Personally, it was a refreshing change to move past Malawi. Everything went great but between the heat index, living in a tent, and extreme poverty, I was not sad about moving on to Zimbabwe. Here in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe it is not quite as impoverished and we are staying with a host family that has been great. I have learned, having a host family makes everything a little easier while on the World Race.
This month we are helping out with an organization called “Scripture Union”. I have not heard of SU before this month, but evidently it’s a pretty big deal and it is well established in a multitude of countries throughout the world. Cool fact, they are the only Christian organization that is allowed access to go into any school in Zimbabwe to speak/share. So God has definitely opened doors for this organization that a lot of organizations and platforms dream to obtain.
This first week we have been doing a kids after school/church camp. We split it up into 4 stations that they rotate between: Bible study, English lessons, games, and life skills. This first week an average of 40-45 kids attended. On Saturday we held a talent show consisting of singing, dancing, and drama teams. I will say that there definitely were not any contenders for Zimbabwe Idol or America’s got talent, however we did have a great time and the kids loved it!
I was able to share a gospel message at the end of the talent show festivities and the response was awesome. 10 kids came forward to talk to us that asked to receive Jesus as their savior! God is so good and I can already tell that this is going to be another special month. We are going to be invited to speak at several school assemblies this month, so please continue to pray specifically that the youth here will be receptive to God. Pray that the Holy Spirit gives us words to say and that God will show up in a mighty way.
