“That’s all for today.” “ We’re done now.”
Now what?
It was our first day of ministry in South Africa. Five of us had been dropped off at our ministry site, been given instructions on what to do, and told we’d be picked up between 12:30-1. Now here it was 11:30 and we were done. We didn’t have any way to contact our ride. The same situation also occurred on the next two days of ministry. But I’m thankful because that “extra” time allowed us to start forming relationships with those we are working with.
The first day we just sat and talked. Becks and TL met Geraldine, Iris, Latifah, and some others whose names I can’t recall or spell at the moment. Marah, Naomi, and I met Thabaline and her husband R___ (I don’t know the spelling). On the second day, we helped clean fish before going inside out of the hot sun. Latifah asked us how we’ve seen God in our lives. TL, Naomi, Becks, and I shared our testimonies and made her promise to share hers the next day. The following day, Marah, Latifah, and Thabaline shared their testimonies. Then Naomi shared a song with them and Thabaline and R shared one with us. We would have shared more but our ride had arrived.
This month Spades and Fab are working with Global Challenge as we serve together in J-Bay, South Africa. We arrived here Monday afternoon and were blown away by what awaited us – an ocean view and a very vibrant Christian community. The past two weeks have been filled with many lessons which I will discuss in future blogs.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far whether through prayer, words, of encouragement, reading my blog, sharing my story, and/or financially. Currently I am about $3,500 away from being fully funded with the final deadline approaching at the end of this month.
