I’m going on an adventure and I’m looking for people who would like to share it with me.
“I am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging, and it’s very difficult to find anyone.’
‘I should think so — in these parts! We are plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner!” – The Hobbit
Where to begin? The beginning is generally considered to be the most logical place to start but I’m not sure where exactly this journey did begin. Nor do I know how it will end. Yet. So here I am stuck somewhere in the middle. I’d imagine that I’m nearer the beginning than the end but one can never be quite sure about these things. Adventures like this one aren’t exactly of the expected sort. Even if you do happen to be expecting its beginning, you aren’t quite sure of its ending and you can be entirely certain of there being some rather surprising occurrences along the way than may or may not change what you thought the ending would be but most certainly will change you.
This seems to frequently be the case when God takes His children on adventures. Unfortunately, I’m afraid it’s this expected apparent spontaneity that causes so many to hop off the bus so to speak. (Although I firmly believe that if one were to know and understand everything concerning a particular event, we’d find out it wasn’t spontaneous at all but rather a divinely planned encounter for a divine purpose.) While it may be true that avoiding these sorts of adventures allows them to avoid certain particular hardships, it does not prevent them from enduring any hardships at all. Some may still consider it better to try to avoid certain journeys, but in doing so, they deprive themselves of the joy they might have found in all circumstances, as well as a better view of just how important faith and prayer are.
Faith is the foundation. And, prayer? Well, you see, prayer was never optional, nor is it even just good. It is absolutely essential for without it, we cannot survive. So I’m asking if you would join me in praying. Pray for the preparation, relationships, travel, health, safety, and funds. But more than anything else, I ask that you would pray for God’s glory to be revealed and the name of the Lord to be lifted high.
