Team Summit has launched in Bangkok, Thailand, to begin the new season as a new team. Introducing from left to right: Vivi, Taylor, Alyssa, myself, Rachel, and Sarah. Read more about them in the “meet my team” section on the side bar.
For me, stepping into this season is both refreshing and exciting.
For the past few months I was processing the idea of resigning from team leadership and of what that would look like. I welcomed the thought, but I didn’t want it to become the result of a selfish desire or just about what I prefer. I really wanted to want what God wants. As a Father, and as He always will, God heard my prayer for direction and He gave me such a peace and an open-arm invitation in to a season of rest from those responsibilities.
And so along with the end of month four came team changes and role changes for some, including me. I am excited to embrace this new season and all that God has in store for Team Summit. We are nearing the half way mark of our race and in many ways it’s like we have conquered a mountain and are trekking the summit.
Month five here in Thailand is a beautiful time of refreshment and rejuvenation. Our living quarters are in a nice condo and indeed comfortable. We have so many blessings that prior Race I’ve generally overlooked. Having a refrigerator has always been a given in my life. Certainly not on the race. Now we have not only that but we have a washer, a toilet with flushing mechanisms, a vacuum, (why, even a real broom is a luxury)!..
I am so thankful for the blessings this month has brought and reflect as Paul writes, I have learned to be content with little and with much.
A day in the life here could look a lot like this:
- Rise early. (If you wish)
- Pray. (Without ceasing)
- Read the Word. (Spiritual sustenance)
- Eat breakfast. (Physical sustenance)
- Go for a swim in the pool or a run at the nearby park.
- At 9:00, team bible study
- 10:00 team time
- Around noon we walk out to the main road and catch the sungtal (taxi truck) and ride to school. Sometimes we spend time at a coffee shop before time for school.
- At 1:00 work starts at school and we are there till 8:30.
Our ministry at school consists of conducting workshops such as painting and dance classes, administrative work to improve the curriculum, and building relationships with the students.
I love everything about this ministry and am reminded time and time again of my love and passion for teaching (and anything school) and my dream to continue that in some form in the future.
We are working with Amane Thais Speak English. Check out their page here.
