The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live again
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb
Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven’s perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you’re holding is the great I am
Mary did you know, Mary did you know, Mary did you know
This is one of my favorite Christmas songs ever. As we’re coming up on Christmas and I’m across the world in the heat, it doesn’t look a whole lot like Christmas. And yet I am constant reminded about the true celebration of this holiday.
When I hear this song I started asking these questions…
Mary, did you know that your son would be the first “World Racer?”
Mary, did you know that you baby boy would say sons and daughters all over the world, long after he is no longer physically on the earth?
Did you know that He would not only deliver you, but everyone, ever, who would only believe in Him?
Did you know that he still heals the blind, calms storms, makes the deaf to hear and the dumb to speak?
Did you know that He is the Lord of everything and the King of every nation?
Did you know that He would call so many people to leave what is comfortable, and go into the unknown with nothing but the clothes on our back and the company of our Lord?
This song makes me think about so many things that were not on anyones radar until they happened.
If you were Mary, and you did know what would happen, how would you react?
If you knew everything that would happen to you, and those around you, would it change the way you act and think and speak?
Did you know that because of Jesus, so many lives have been changed for the better, forever?
Did you know that because of Jesus, so many people are constantly being freed from sin and slavery to sin all over the world, not just in America, while also not just everywhere BUT America. It is happening everywhere.
If you knew that your life would be forever changed for the better, would you change anything?
If you knew your life could be changed instantly, and forever, would you change it?
If you knew the true power of Jesus, would you doubt Him the way you do?
If you knew the true meaning behind Christmas, would you still do some of the pointless “traditional” things?
This year, as I am away from family and friends back home for the first time in my life for Christmas. I am reminded that its not a matter of being with family.
When I get home, I am going to have countless years where my Christmas celebrations will look very similar from year to year. With the same people.
This year I am going to celebrate like never before, because I know that I will never be in Thailand for Christmas, with these people, at this time, ever again.
This is my only chance at Christmas with these people in this place. So I am going to celebrate like it will be my last one. Because it could be. It could also be theirs.
This year as you celebrate Christmas this year, make it different. Realize that this could be your last with those around you. For all you know, God may call you to be across the world for next Christmas. He may even call you home for next Christmas.
That being said, celebrate where you are, and what you have right in front of you. All while remembering and celebrating the true meaning behind this season. And that is Jesus Christ the great I AM!!!
Make this the best Christmas ever! You never know when your last will be with those closest to you who surround you.
