In case you have not heard, I am leaving the country again! For a different program. With a different focus. But with the same fire for God that I had when I went on the life-altering 11-month World Race missions trip TWO years ago (still cannot believe it has been two years already).
I have applied and been accepted into the Generation42 Leadership Academy in Mijas, Spain. This is a program I learned about while on the world race and I remember thinking to myself, “you can’t go just because it’s Spain and it sounds exciting. That is not the right heart posture. That is not what God has planned for you. No way.” And I did not really think of it much after that. Or at least, I tried not to. I, actually, could not stop thinking about it. I realized I was doing the same thing with this that I did with the world race. Thinking about it, praying about it, and telling no one, which, if you know me at all, you know that NOT talking about something that excites me is very out of character. I did not want encouragement to do something that God did not call me to. I wanted all the encouragement and confirmation to come directly from my Father. And let me tell you, He showed up. Just like He always has. Just like He always will. Confirmation after confirmation. Even after I said no several times. He said, “Yes.” He said, “Go.”
“Soo what is He telling you to go towards?” You may be wondering. Well, here it is:
Generation 42 is a leadership development training program that is designed to disciple young leaders and equip them to go out into the world to plant and lead missional communities. Whether that looks like planting churches in Asia or running a missionally focused coffee shop in the states. Missional communities are about creating a safe space for disciples of Christ to be and enjoy life together and spur one another on towards chasing God’s calling in each person’s life.
This program is 9 months of intense teachings and learning about God’s character and our purpose on this earth. It is broken up into trimesters. The first three-months is forming a foundation of identity and really pressing into what God wants for each of us. The second three-months will be us putting into practice what we have learned in a practicum setting. The practicum is essentially an internship. We get to partner with a ministry that is already doing something along the lines of what we would like to do after the program (in our ‘real lives’). This can be somewhere overseas or in the states. We will find out in the next few weeks where we are being placed. The last three months we go back to Spain and finish the program together. We are taught and prayed into and prepped to go into the world as trained leaders to bring glory to the Kingdom of God.
Missions work is something that has ALWAYS been on my heart to do, but I never really knew what I wanted it to look like. God has been pouring out vision on my life in the last few years and has directed me to G42 to make these visions a reality. I am so excited and expectant for what He has in store for me through this program.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and follow along as God continues to shape my life in ways I never even knew I could want. If you would like to continue to follow along as God propels me further than I have been before, please let me know and I can subscribe you to my new blog page. Since I am now a Generation42 Intern, I will be switching my blog platform to wordpress.
