I wanna start by apologizing and sharing a little bit of my heart with y’all. It’s been over a month  since my last blog, and I’m so sorry I haven’t been more diligent in writing and updating you all about life. Some of my most favorite moments on the race so far took place in Nicaragua, and I’m currently sitting in Zoe Church in Honduras reflecting on it, while my eyes started tearing up. I miss the community there, I miss our beautiful home on the farm, I miss the 70 acres of land we lived on, I miss my friends at the nursing home and children’s community center, and I miss being constantly surrounded by 30+ humans. All of this to say, I only wrote one blog because I couldn’t/didn’t want to steal any free time away from being fully present. I actually very much enjoy writing and absolutely LOVE hearing from ya’ll. Like wow, so much.

I’m so excited for month four and am already falling in love with my new family here in Honduras. An update soon to come on what we’ve been doing here!

In the meantime, I thought one of the best ways for you to experience some of my adventures in Nica, is to share via photos! These are some of my fave moments from Nicaragua!

Typically, most Squads will only have 1 month on their race where it’s an all Squad month-meaning the entire squad is in the same country, living together, and doing ministry together. K-Squad had 2 all Squad months!! We were together in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, which was the BEST. This is how our whole Squad caught a ride to ministry most days in Nicaragua.

Amber & I vlogged our adventure to church one Sunday!

We showed up to Maria’s house asking if we could pray for her. She invited us into her home and started pulling out chairs for all of us to sit in, which I’ve discovered is extremely common throughout Central America. We sat in her small home, asking about all the pictures of her family, and hearing a little about her life. She treated us as if we were her own daughters and stole a piece of my heart.

Miguel is the most precious, funniest, and cutiest (yes, it’s a made up word) humans I was lucky to spend some time with. We visited the nursing home several times and each time he would greet us with the brightest smile. We would sit and talk for hours, not completely understanding one another, but enjoying each others company, laughing, and singing.

Nicaragua, the only place in the world you can go volcano boarding, so for one of our adventure days we did it! Not going to lie, I was a little baby nervous, but actually the hike up the volcano was more intense than the board down it. I would 100% recommend and do again.

We visited the “dump” and brought breakfast for the work crew. They dig through garbag, separating recyclables, making on average $1 per day. Yet, their joy shines through their smiles and laughter while sittint on a mountain of trash enjoying each other’s company.

This little bundle of poop and snuggles made the best pet for 2 weeks. She loved hanging out with us during team time and even started recognizing us, and would run up to greet us. By far, the cutiest little nuggie pig I‘ve ever seen.

Teresa is another precious human we had the pleasure of meeting at the nursing home. She celebrated her birthday while we were there! Also pictured is Kayla, this girl lit makes me laugh until I cry, brings so much joy wherever she goes, and  I‘m super thankful for her presence on K-Squad and in my life.

Amber and I learned how to hand wash our clothes, which has become the new norm! What hasn’t become the new norm is accidentally using toilet bowl bleach. You live and you learn, ya know?!

As a squad we’re super competitive and sometimes we like to create team videos, have a viewing party, and make fools out of ourselves. This is Amanda and I singing Avril Lavigne; living our best lives, honestly.

Who would of ever thought I would love living on a farm?! Every morning spending qual time with the Lord while watching the sunrise was so good for my heart. Realizing I won’t always have this throughout the race or even when I get back home, makes me cherish these moments even more.
