Today on, “A Day in the Life ft. “The Real T,” I will be giving you guys the inside scoop on what really [The Real T] goes down here in KamPot, Cambodia with team Towdah. Breaking it down from the the perspective of, “My only exposure to culture was that one time in Walmart.” No need to urban dictionary the “The Real T Corbyn version” because you won’t find it anywhere else folks. It means the authentic raw truth behind the photos with a dash or maybe douse [Yeah, mom] of sarcasm from yours truly… (Viewer discretion is advised.)
(Sunday through Thursday we have ministry. Friday and Saturday are our off/rest/adventure days. We don’t all have the same daily schedule’s so if you want to know what their days look like you can go read another day in the life blog. No worries they allllll wrote one.) [#WritersBlock]
Sunday:
- Church starts at 9 or so they say so I set my alarm at 8 to be at team QT [Quite time] with JC [Not Jaci but Jesus Christ] at 8 am. Yeah that makes sense right? [#TeamNorms]
- Sit and spend time with the Lord without music and try my best to not be distracted by every single random rooster crow or cough so that I can be filled so that I can properly function throughout the day.
- Church at 9ish where I put on my tight jeans to look nice and sweat so much I can’t see. Worship in Cami and try to sing the sounds that our actually words but ultimately don’t have any idea what I’m saying but aye He’s worthy can I get an amen! Then get completely blow away by one of these incredible women who last minute decide to preach. Usually nervous out of there mind to stand up there in front of all 3 people who attend [There’s always more then 3] and then blow it out of the park. Or knock it out of the park… I don’t know it’s just really good!
- After church we eat some random weird fruit with everyone and fellowship and get to know the people from the community.
- 12pm lunch [rice] in the light. Sweating. A lot.
- Random mid day break where we do debrief team time. [Time as a team to talk about the week and our hearts. What the Lord has done this week and what He is currently doing. See index*]
- 4pm – 6 or 7pm – We get ready for “soccer” and wait until we get picked up. Normally the one and only time during the week I put on the heavy tennis shoes that I carried half way across the world because “I am fitness.” #Priorities Then we get to the turf field where about 3 of the 9 people our excited to play and the other 6 have never seen a soccer ball before. We do some “stretches” and sub in and out and try our best to not make every goal our fault.
- 7pm – Eat dinner in the dark. We never know what we’re actually eating but we do know it’s always going to be rice with some kind of meat. Avoid the bones.
- The rest of the night is pretty much a blur
Monday through Thursday:
- Set my alarm at 6:20 to then hit snooze to be at team QT with JC at 6:30am every morning because that also makes sense right?
- 7am – 2 people hop in the back of our super dope hosts truck to take a breathtaking drive with the wind and bugs in your hair down to the market to get breakfast for the whole team. You never know what they’ll come back with but you do know that it will always be waffles… every. single. day. #WR15
- 8am – Half of us are dressed and ready to go do house visits around the community and the other half are still waiting on there clothes to dry. #Rainyseason
- 8:30- 10am – House visits where we get to walk around the village and go sit in people’s hammocks and talk with them about their lives and share about what the Father has done in ours. We have a translator so we really get to talk to them and pray over them. We’ve seen powerful things come about, like healings and breakthrough with these beautiful people of KamPot.
- 10am – 12pm – Time with Jesus. Hanging out laughing or who knows what.
- 12pm – We eat lunch [rice] while sweating profusely.
- 12:30 – 2pm – we do team time together. Everyday it’s different. We have worship, debrief, blogging, feedback, journey markers [where we study Jesus’s life and correlate it to our journey.] and free for all. [Where we do random fun things together.] Or people take this time to sleep on the dirty, tile floor as close to the fan as possible because it’s fire hot.
- 2 – 4pm – Me and about 4 other people do construction work. We tore down these 2 big huts and built this moto parking lot. We’ve moved a lot of dirt. Sometimes we clean and fix the shower head that people keep breaking. While the other 4 people on the team teach 2 English classes.
- 4 – 5pm – Time with Jesus. Hammocks. Jesus. Jesus and more Jesus.
- 4:59pm – Our host’s dad shows up to pick up 6 of us to go teach 4 English classes at a Buddhist school at 5…. Normally the tuk tuk never starts and we have push it.
- 5:30 to 6:30pm – Me and 2 other homies stay and teach the kids who come to where we live. They are high schoolers and we get to make it more like a youth group and share the gospel with them in different ways every night.
- 7pm – We eat dinner [rice] in the dark because bugs
- 8ish – Would be the time that we “workout” because it’s a team norm… Yeah, we ran that one time. #Fitness
- After that you never know what could happen. Star tripping, dance party, deep conversations, movie night, Paige journals about prank wars, some people throw large bamboo sticks at people while they’re in the shower. You just never know.

The index [Not alphabetical]:
[]- The inside scoop… breaking the 3rd wall…
Yeah, mom – An inside joke with my mom.
#Writers block – When you have no idea what to write because your constantly self-evaluating on this race and you just don’t have words.
#Team Norms – Things the team decided they wanted to do together daily, weekly, and throughout the race.
#WR15 – world race 15 is when you gain 5 more pounds then college kids because all you eat is waffles and rice. Which is surprisingly cheaper then roman.
Home visits – Super dope time where we get to walk around the village and go sit in people’s hammocks and talk with them about there lives and share about what the Father has done in ours. We have translator so we get to really be able to talk to them and pray over them. We’ve seen powerful things come about like healings and break through with these beautiful people.
#Rainy season – The season in Asia where it rains every day.
Tuk tuk – Cambodian transportation. Moto hooked up to this trailer thing with couch like seating… kinda.
Team times:
- Worship – A time when we come together as a team and worship the Lord together in many different ways. Sulking, singing really loud, dancing in the middle of a pitch black field staring at the stars, art, reflecting on the word and many more.
- Journey Markers – Where we study the life of Christ and correlate it to our own journey. Answer questions that challenge us to think about our lives and what the Lord is saying. “It often wrecks you.” – Paige
- Blogging – Writing blogs and telling stories about what the Lord is doing here and in our lives. Normally I play great inspiring music while also musically educating them on the classics. Your welcome.
- Feedback – Encouraging and calling each other higher on the hard things. It’s my favorite.
- Free for all – It’s ah, free for all. So we do whatever we want together and have a good time hanging out. Who knows what will happen.
- Debrief – We discus the week and our hearts. What the Lord is teaching us together and separately. Letting each other in on the venerable things. The hard and the good. Also teaching and digesting scripture together. It’s my other favorite.
Well needless to say this is what really goes down behind the sense of the Instagram photos. This race is tough but thankfully we get to do it with incredible people. Much love from Cambodia!
