Hola mis amigos! I’m in Chile!! I’ll be posting an update on Chile soon, but for now here’s a final farewell story from Ukraine.
So, we flew out of Ukraine last Thursday (11/9/17), but before we could fly out, our whole squad had to meet up. So, we had one night with our whole squad in the beautiful city of Lviv, Ukraine. It was such a good day y’all! We explored the whole city—at least that’s what my feet felt like—but it was so worth it! We had waffles stuffed with ice cream, which is a hot commodity on the field, and we decided to get our ears pierced on a whim. The best part of my whole day though was when we stopped in to look around one of the cathedrals. Someone said it was supposed to be the most beautiful one in the city, but I think they had the wrong one because this one was under construction haha! Anywho, as we are looking around and taking in the beauty of the building, I see a sweet older woman kelt at the alter. When I saw her, I immediately felt the Holy Spirit urge me to pray over her. And, of course, I immediately said “but”. “But, I can’t interrupt someone who is already praying to ask if I can pray over them.” I knew that The Lord had a reason for telling me to do so though, and my “but” wasn’t an excuse. So I walked over to the woman. When I got to her, she wasn’t praying anymore; she was just looking up and admiring Jesus. I pointed at Jesus and asked in English/ my own version of sign language, if I could pray over her. She understood, but I asked her like three times just to make sure. She just kept smiling so patiently and saying yes in Ukrainian. So, I put my arm around her and began praying. My whole prayer was in English of course, but as I prayed, she would nod her head in agreement. Y’all, I fully believe that Holy Spirit can break language barriers. I believe that nothing is too big for our God. And, I believe that He could have allowed her to understand that prayer audibly. But, even if she couldn’t understand my prayer audibly, the Holy Spirit in her understood what I was saying and could translate for me. I don’t know how God works sometimes, but I know that He does because I can see the evidence of Him moving even when I don’t know what the evidence means. Sometimes, we just have to stop asking all the questions bout how He’s working and just believe that He is.
