Imagine the following happening to you:
You come home from a long day of teaching English, a day filled with questions and answers such as:
(Teacher) “What’s the difference between a city and a town? “
(student)…”Sunday!”
Anyways, it’s the end of the day and your fixing to take a bucket bath. (No running water here; you get it from the pond.) You’re so sweaty from the heat of that day, and so excited for the relief that the muddy water will bring. But suddenly; you feel something fall on you. You drop the bucket and scream when you realize it’s two lizards, and they are sticking to your sweaty arms. In a freak out of of trying to get the lizards off you, You stumble out of the outhouse and slip and fall, your knees landing on a frog. Squishing it dead.
You go to bed, still in horror that you killed a frog. You start Checking and rechecking yourself for lizards and bugs that may be on you. It’s to hot to sleep in your tent, so You sleep out on your sleeping pad. (Getting eatin Alive by mosquitos, but it’s better then drowning in sweat.) suddenly, You startle awake to some “thing” jumping across you and then bounding out the open window.
Panicked, you start screaming and freak out your sleeping teammate: “AAAGHHHHH!!!! OH MY GOSH, WHAT WAS THAT!!!!???? IT WAS ON MY BED!!!!”
This was “MY” reality yesterday. lizards and all. Just wanted to share a funny little story of missionary life. 🙂
