I posted about a woman named Mercy a few weeks ago, and her dream to grow her food stand business. I am so excited to announce that we were able to raise $400 to help Mercy with this dream! (above is a video about the project.) My team and I were able to build her an awning with a table and chairs under it for her customers to sit under and enjoy their meal. God took the amount we raised and we were able to do so much with it! She even has a foundation under her stand now so it won’t wash away during rainy season!

I don’t know anything about building, my knowledge was using old lumber as a kid to build forts in the yard. But I did just did holes for fence posts so I though I would just use that concept to build this small frame with a tin awning on top. I did not even consider a foundation. The morning we arrived to build, things were not going according to plan (typical in Africa) and I was starting to panic, thinking we wouldn’t be able to finish the project before we had to leave. long story short, a carpenter appeared out of nowhere and just started helping us build. He showed us how to mix the concrete and mortar, how to construct the frame, and so much More. There’s no way we could have done this without him! Please pray for “master carpenter” That God would bless him and his business.

After the structure was built, I decided it needed color! I thought painting the frame would give it a happy feel. Mercy’s favorite color is purple, so I walked into town to see if I could find come purple paint. Oddly enough, I did! But i couldn’t find a paintbrush!! (This sounds odd until you have been to Africa. some days the stores have things, some days they do not.) I searched several other stores. No paintbrushes. It was getting late and I sadly decided give up my search and return to tell Mercy I had paint, but no brushes. I went to to the road and hailed a taxi. (the  taxis here are so old I don’t know how they even run)We started driving back to mercy‘s corner, and guess what was on this taxis dashboard?

A paintbrush.

God provides in humorous, amazing ways. I have story after story about his provisions, and this just another one. But it still makes me sit in awe.

I told the taxi driver I was searching everywhere for a paintbrush, and he just gave it to me. He said he used it to brush his beard. (Tip for you bearded people out there.)

God used YOU to raise the funds for this project, he used the carpenter to help us build it. and the taxi driver to give us the paintbrush. So amazing.
