I had to part ways with my team today as our squad underwent team changes. I want to share something about Team United that has changed my relationship with the Lord completely.
Team United has cultivated a community immersed in prayer and intercession. Everyday for the past 2 months, we have devoted anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour of prayer. We pray for our ministry, people we have met, people we will meet, team and individual growth, and our squad.
Because of this standard that we set for our team, it has allowed me to change my perspective of prayer and intercession. To learn what it looks like to pray without ceasing has been such an amazing experience. Y’all, I have physically seen the Lord answer things that we have interceded for. A few examples include:
– rain in Malawi
– healing over our host’s back
– a friend receiving visas to visit family in the UK
– a friend getting accepted into a journalism program
– parents attending Parent vision trip in Thailand
– peace in learning about team changes
One huge thing we have been interceding for is fundraising. Today is our fundraising deadline, and I can officially say that we has Team United are all fully funded!
Fundraising for our team has been incredibly difficult for multiple reasons, one of which we haven’t had WiFi consistently for the past 2 months in Africa. In Malawi, we got WiFi twice, and in Zimbabwe, we got WiFi 4 times. It’s difficult to fundraise when you aren’t able to actually reach out to people all the time. So we did all that we could; we prayed.
As a team we raised over $13,000 in the last month. What?!? Sometimes, I still can’t believe it. That’s what the Lord can do with our prayers. We interceded nonstop for fundraising, and the Lord provided. That’s is what my team has helped me to learn. Prayer changes everything.
So I’ve started intercession on my own, and it’s something that I will continue after this team change. I have faith that Lord can change lives through our prayers.
Tauren Wells has a song called, When We Pray. The lyrics to the chorus are:
“But what if we could be a people on our knees
As one before the King
‘Cause we believe
All the world starts changing
When the church starts praying
Strongholds start to break
Oh, when we pray
Prison walls start shaking
At the sound of praising
Nothing stays the same
Oh, when we pray”
What if we believed that the world would start changing the more we prayed? Guys, I’ve already seen it happen. My team has fought in prayer for people and ministries all over the world. Take my word for it, prayer works. So I’m not stopping. Team United might not be a team anymore in ministry, but we will forever be a team in prayer.
Thank you, Team United, for teaching me the value of prayer. Thank you for showing me how much power prayer really has. I believe in prayer because you believed in it first.
