I’m back in the U.S.A!! My 11 months on the world race with Z-squad has officially come to an end. But it’s not quite over for me, I’ve decided to alumni team lead for a squad that leaves in August. Initially, I thought I would return to Phoenix and begin the job hunt, but after a little while on the trip I felt led to take time to dream about my future. So I wrote down my passions, desires, and who I want to be in 5 years.
"I want to know God more. Be a woman who knows the authority
that I have been given and walk in it. I want to be someone with
kingdom eyes who makes decisions from a place of hope/faith, not fear.
I want to hold myself and my life with an open hand. I want to trust
God more. Grow/explore my passions. I want to fail fearlessly."
I thought and prayed about my future more and felt some new convictions and desires. I wondered, “Am I trusting that God will provide for me?” “Is my hand open?” Then some desires and truths kicked in… I grew exponentially this year. I found freedom in the Lord like never before. I can walk with racers who are just beginning their journey and impart what I have learned and help them to start their race well. I believe it’s an invitation from God that I’ve chosen take.
Thank you all for reading my blogs and journeying with me this past year. I am grateful for your support, prayers and encouragement! God has touched so many hearts this year, thank you for being a part of it!
I am currently in Houston visiting my brother’s family but will be in Illinois within the next few days before I head out again in August to lead another team to South America. I would love to meet up with anyone who would like to hear more about my last eleven months (I’d love to hear about you too!) and the two months ahead!
On July 15th from 1-4 pm my parents are hosting an open house for me and you’re all invited!! Hope to see you at the farm in Putnam.
I am fundraising again in order to team lead, if you feel led to give financially to my upcoming race, you can click the “donate” button on my blog site. I need to raise $2,500, which will cover my expenses for the 2 months I will be in the field.
I really appreciate any and all of your support, through prayer or prayer and giving. Thank you for checking out my blog. Stay tuned for more about my journey.
Yours in Christ,
Catherine Read
For anyone who is unfamiliar, Adventures in Mission holds a World Race, which is an eleven month Christian mission trip to eleven countries. One of the unique things about the World Race is that in addition to being a mission trip, it is also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. We will partner with churches, people, and non-profit organizations, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
