Moment to Learn From
As my friend took out the kitchen trash, a path of red liquid (tomato sauce) was left behind. Kader and I both looked for something to use to wipe up the mess. I found a mop, and she approved the use of it. She then showed me how to wring it out. I thought, okay- easy enough and began mopping up the drips. I then asked if she wanted me to mop the rest of the kitchen. She indicated that she would like that very much. So, I began. Before I knew it, she was suggesting I do it another way. I said okay, but ultimately ignored her because I know how to mop. A minute passed, and then she said more directly, “You are doing it wrong.” “Start at the back and mop out,” she said. At this point I was annoyed. I found myself thinking defensively, “I know what I am doing. I wasn’t going to mop myself into a corner. I was going to wrap around the island and mop myself out.” Then I felt the Holy Spirit prompting me with questions. “Catherine, what are you doing?” “Whose kitchen is this?” “Why are you here?” “Kader is asking you to mop her way, why don’t you listen?” “You don’t need to prove your mopping abilities or defend why you were doing what you were doing.” “Instead, listen and obey.” So finally, I did. Who knew mopping could bring up so much pride and stubbornness.
Thanks for reading!

Book: I just finished Seeking Allah Finding Jesus by Nabeel Qureshi. It’s an autobiography about an unexpected journey from Islam to Christianity. I really enjoyed it. It’s an easy read, captivating and informative.
I just started Love Does, by Bob Goff. It’s a book that is written on the premise that love is verb. I’m really enjoying it, but just started it, and am not able to give an adequate summary at this point.
