This month, I’m with all girls. It’s a nice change to be with only women, even though I love the guys on my team. 17 women in one house. It could seem like a lot, especially coming from an introvert like me.

In honor of it being the month of the girls, Tessie and I decided this month to study the women of the New Testament. Women you might pass over, women you probably wouldn’t name off the top of your head. I’ve only been reading a few so far, but their interaction with the Lord had one thing in common: it was counter cultural.

It went against the tide.

It was unexpected.

It didn’t make sense.

I can’t help but think of the women around me. The women who said no to the world, the expectations. They said no to careers, relationships, dreams, houses, money, security, comfort, control. Because the Lord called them into something greater.

What is the Lord calling you into?

Where is he asking you to step into something greater?

Where will you go against the tide?

Where will it be unexpected?

Elizabeth found out she would have a miracle child, well past her years, it wasn’t expected. It was a dream she had probably already let go.  It wasn’t how she would have planned it. She probably got some backlash for it.  She probably heard other women talk about her behind her back.

Yet, God heard her prayers.

What dreams are you holding onto? What prayers are you continually praying?

Remember:

God loved her when she was barren.

God loved her when she bore a child.

It didn’t matter what her circumstances were.

His love for her never wavered.

Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her! – Luke 1:45
