Today is our first day in Battambang, Cambodia! We arrived yesterday from Chiang Mai, Thailand, after 24 hours of traveling. We now begin three weeks of ministry with Ezra Ministries. Ezra is an English school that uses the relationships they have with their students tell the gospel. As of last week they opened a cafe called The Library, in hopes of sustaining the salaries of the teachers.

We arrived in Cambodia in the hottest time of year – as in, it’s the hottest day on record of the year. And man, is it HOT. You drip sweat constantly. However, the warmth in the air is just a glimmer of the warmth in the Khmer people. The people are SO KIND. It’s unreal.

The history of Cambodia is a long one. We’ve been told to watch the film, “First He Killed My Father” on Netflix, to better understand some of the history of this nation. It’s the story of a young girl that’s forced to be a child soldier during the mass genocide of an entire generation. It’s a story that happened in our parent’s lifetime. It’s a story no one talks about in school.

The longer I’ve been on the race, the more my heart breaks for the people I come into contact with. I’m so hungry to learn more. I’m so hungry to fight for the stories of the untold. Why aren’t these stories being told? Why are people not talking about the hard things?

I have a feeling this month is going to be a hard one. Hard on my heart. Hard on my tears.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support. I am so incredibly grateful that you would join me in this journey. Some of my teammates are still struggling to raise the money and are at risk of going home. Please don’t let this happen. Would you consider giving to Elizabeth, Logan or Maggie?
