I have been in Ukraine for 2 days and I can already tell this month is going to be full of change, growth, love, fun, and family,
After saying goodbye to the rest of the squad after a 10 hour bus ride, which ended with a whole lot of tears, it was time for my team to travel to our ministry this month. It wasn’t a short ride with a 7 hour bus ride and then another 2 hour bus ride, and finally a total of 24 hours later and barely any sleep we were in Kolentsi, Ukraine. I was nervous but excited to see where we would be staying and what our month was going to look like. Before arriving I knew our team was the furthest from the others and a ways away from any big city. It wasn’t until we pulled on the property at 6 in the morning I realized we were in the middle of the woods…. literally. The closest city is 30 minutes away. This would normally stress me out but we are living at a camp ground and we definitely don’t have a shortage of things to do around here (sand volleyball, tetherball, seesaws, rock wall, basketball, and much more) and to make things better the stars here are so beautiful!!!!!!
Once we headed over to our hosts house he gave us the lay down about what this month would look like. This month is going to be filled with a lot of babysitting, reading to children K-3 at an international school, cooking for house moms, helping with a church retreat this weekend, watching the orphan children on the property, and updating the camp! Hearing all of this made me so happy because I have a huge heart for kids ministry and I also have a huge huge passion for cooking. This made me realize even more that God put me here for a reason. He knew this month wouldn’t be easy but that it would allow me to grow not only with my team but as a person. It’s going to push me spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally, but man am I ready for it all!!!! I can’t wait to see what God has in store for my team and how we will reach the people around Ukraine!!
