While in Thailand, one of my teammates asked us to write about when we feel closest to God and in what specific ways we feel God the most. This is what I wrote:

I see God the most in the little things. I see God in the way other kids love each other and take care of each other. I see God in the smallest actions of kindness, like how we keep receiving bananas and different foods from the teachers (I see that as how God is constantly pouring out his love and blessings onto us). I see God in the small things. I see God in the way that people react with kindness rather than with shortness. I see God in the people around me, when they choose not to gossip, or when they choose not to talk out of feeling but out of love. I see God in the perspectives that he has given me to better be able to respect and honor the people around me. I see God in the kids around me, in the way they laugh, play and love. I see God in sports, I see how He has created sports for us to have fun, and let go of the things we’re holding on to. I see God in the little things. I see God in the ants that work so systematically to get from one place to another (even when they are all over the house). I see God in spiders, how he so carefully constructed each part of their body. I see God in the wildflowers growing on the sides of the road. I see God in the views. I see God in the mountains, in the fields, and in the trees, and in the beauty all around. I see God in the sunrises when the whole world starts to wake up (or go to bed, depending on the time difference). But when I feel closest to God is when I am alone. When I can see the beauty around me and take it all in and remember that I am where I am not by accident, but because God put me here, and he has brought so much beauty in my life, and I can take a breath of fresh air and feel at peace just being.
