My deepest apologies, dear readers, for the long lapse that I took from blogging. I have had many hours of travel and settling in to a new time zone. No excuse though, I know. So, to catch you up on what I’ve been doing and my arrival to India.
I left Africa with a heavy heart, not out of poor memories but out of good ones. I have made many friends and even new family members throughout my time there. Those memories made there will stay with me for the rest of my life and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience in Africa!
Arriving in India was quite a culture shock. I had been in rural Africa for both Swazi and Lesotho and arriving in a big city was very…different. I don’t think I could ever drive here if I even wanted to try, but I love it! I’ve taken autos (a small vehicle with one wheel in the front and two in the back, usually yellow!) to different locations like a large bazaar surrounding this building called Charminar, a nice mall, and a delicious ice cream place! India is so full of color I can hardly believe it! We went and bought saris today and the variations of what you could pick were innumerable! I settled on one right away, lucky for me! I’ll try to post a picture of it as soon as I can but it takes a week to sew the blouse piece that goes with it.
My team, along with 3 other teams are now in south-east India. I don’t know what the other teams are doing but my team and I get the honor of going out to different villages and getting families stories about what they do for fun, what their jobs are like, and just every day life! We get fed amazing food by them sometimes as well which is so cool! The people here are so welcoming, and kind, and their food?? I’m absolutely in love with India!
Thank you to all of my kind and awesome supporters and readers! I love you all and I’m so grateful for all of your prayers and thoughts that are with me! Another blog post will quickly follow this one so stay tuned!
