As we wrap up month one in the first country, I can’t help but reflect on a couple of realizations that have taken place for me while here in Abidjan.
- First and foremost, I can confidently say that never once in my life did I assume one day I would minister to Muslim men underneath semi-trucks. I’ll be sure to add that to my resume. My realization in this context is: surprise yourself. You never know where you might end up or what you might end up doing.
- Number two, true patience is one of the most precious and difficult skills to learn. Don’t believe me? Just live with 7 people under the same roof for a day. My realization in this realm is: It is okay to acknowledge your weaknesses because that is the first step in making them better.
- Three, people are extremely hungry to listen to the word of God. If this is not something you are aware of, I encourage you to pay more attention. Make time for God. It is not ability God is looking for, but availability.
There is so much more I could say, more stories I could tell and more pictures than I can count. But, I will leave you with this. I want to uplift the person reading these words right now. My prayer for you is that you would know that you are loved unconditionally by someone who has died to know you. Recognize this though, He is a gentleman and he will not force his way in your house. He stands outside your door, gently knocking and waiting. All you have to do is answer the door.
Much love,
Briana
