Manistry. The opportunity for all of the men on a World Race squad to go off and do ministry together for a month. Sounds awesome right? That’s how the we as Gap N felt about it. The idea of being surrounded by a group of men who are on fire for the Lord and chase after Him wholeheartedly to push each other closer to the Father was so exciting. But in order for that to happen, we needed a male leader to come and pour into us, and we only have female squad leaders. Our squad leaders are incredible women of the Lord, but if one of them came with us, we no longer have manistry. So we had to let go of this idea of manistry we were so hopeful and excited for.
We had been on the field 4 months when our mentor Deb gathered all the men and told us that we were going to have manistry. What? How? Little did we know, the entire time we had been on the field, there were people back in the office fighting to make manistry happen for us. One of those people was Matt Blair.
Let me tell you a little bit about Matt. Matt is a true man of God. He loves the Lord with his entire heart, and pursues Him daily. He has more wisdom than most people I’ve met my entire life, and is willing to give it away to anyone and everyone. He knows when to have fun, when to be serious, and how to turn the fun things into something serious. He has big dreams for the Kingdom and chases after them, even if he might never see them come to fruition.
Matt has a heart dedicated to raising up men to be godly leaders. Ever since training camp, he has been pouring out his wisdom and knowledge on all of the men on Gap Year. He offered nightly teachings to anyone who was interested, where he shared from scripture as well as his own experiences on the Race. He has offered discipleship to any man who wants it. It may require them to move, but he will personally disciple them or find someone to do it. And Matt (along with Raf from the office) came to Kompong Thom Cambodia to join our squad for manistry. He spent 2 weeks with us, diving into scripture, pursuing us individually, teaching the group, and helping us cast vision for the rest of our lives serving the Lord.
Each of the men on our squad could give you countless examples of how Matt has impacted our lives for the betterment of the Kingdom and of ourselves. The growth we’ve experienced this past month is something that will be shown through the rest of our lives, and Matt played a major role in it.
If you look at most mission trips or ministries, there are usually more women than men. Matt’s desire is to see men of God step up and lead in order to pour into younger men, creating a cycle that could change the way men live forever. As mentioned earlier, Matt has big dreams for the Kingdom and chases after them. One of those dreams is to see a generation of godly men rise up in leadership and walk out their lives boldly proclaiming the Good News, and helping other men do the same. In order to begin to see this take place, he has created his new job to disciple the men of the Gap Year program, and raise them up as leaders.
The majority of his income with his new position is support raised. And that’s where you come in. I want to ask you to prayerfully consider supporting Matt financially, knowing that the money you give will impact more lives than you could imagine.
