Logistics

  • We will depart from Medellin, Colombia on Tuesday, October 10.
  • After about two days worth of travel by bus, we will arrive in Quito, Ecuador on Wednesday, October 11.
  • Colombia was our only time of ministry with our entire squad. This next month, we will be residing again with our entire squad, but our ministry will be done in our teams. Our squad consists of 39 people, excluding our leaders, and my team consists of 7.
  • The type of location that Quito is is a city. Quito is the capital of Ecuador.
  • Every day of ministry, our transport will be by public bus.
  • We will be staying in a facility away from our ministry site in Quito, hence why we will take a bus to and from ministry. The good news about this location is the space. We will all be accounted for a bed, as a squad, and also have room to set up tents if someone desires to spend some time alone. There are going to be great hang out and rest areas outside of our ministry time, in addition to clean water. The last great news about this location, hot water!!
  • Food will be prepared by our host at the location we are staying at. Our precious hosts, known by Mabe and Fabi, will be preparing our meals and they are described as delicious.

Ministry

  • Our Ministry vision is youth Ministry. To reach the youth of Latin America with Christ’s irresistible love.
  • Summary of what our ministry might and most likely will encompass will some flexibility consists of many opportunities. We will have soccer ministry with adults; playing soccer with them and praying with them and building relationships. We will have an after-school program for at-risk children; playing with the kids, helping them with their homework, and just helping where we’re needed around the facility. We will be working in a full-time care rehabilitation center for mentally and physically disabled children; helping with rehab, feeding, in addition to physical care. We will also be helping in a center for teen moms. We will be taking part in an outreach feeding program; serving food and teaching english. Some of our time will be spent in the local orphanage playing with the kids and helping around the center. And the last of our listed opportunities is helping in an international school teaching english and music and art and dancing and just having a blast with some international students.
  • We will be doing ministry in Quito
  • We’re hoping to really take the opportunity from learning more about kid’s ministry from Colombia and apply that to our main focus in Ecuador as our vision now adds emphasis to the youth in this area.

Community/Culture/About the Location

  • We will adapt to the culture to strive to have the most impact possible by not standing out
  • Good news is that the tap water in this location is clean and drinkable. Also, hot water!!
  • The location we are staying in is very safe. We will be able to go out and adventure if we want to.
  • We will know more about the culture and the little things once we’ve arrived and our host is able to notify us
