“Just have faith.”
Sounds easy right. That’s all Jesus said to just about all those that asked Him for something. Whether it was healing, deliverance, any and all the miracles he performed that were requested. Yet, here I find myself struggling to have faith when it comes to something that is so small to God. How small and unconcerning to God is fundraising. How do I find myself with doubt in the one who I’ve seen move the mountains in my own life. How could I begin to think that He won’t provide, that He’s not working, that He’s not helping me. I know it’s not true, yet I’m letting this voice continue to speak. And for some reason, I’ve surcumb to the voice in my head telling me that I’m on my own. That I can’t do it. That I’m not good enough. But I know who’s voice this is. And I also begin to hear the voice of comfort as I cancel out the voice I know is not for me. Easy enough to me that sometimes it comes straight out of my favorite book. Chapter 11 in the book of Mark in this book of life reads…
Mark 11:22-24 “22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
(It’s to note that the moving of the mountains was symbolism of God’s vastness and that He would do this out of His will and His plan, which John would later explain in his letter.) These verses are Jesus response to His disciples after they were in wonder and awe of the miracle He had just performed, but then what I found peculiar was the details of His response. Jesus uses the word anyone. Anyone can say this prayer and it will happen for them, he says. But this person isn’t just an anyone because they have something special. What’s special about this person is that they have what Jesus also told those the same things He told those He performed the miracles for. This person chooses to have faith in God. Anyone who simply has faith in God will see what they ask done for them. God will prevail. God’s will will prevail. And I am believing for a miracle and there’s only one reason it’s going to happen. There’s only one thing I can do to see this miracle. Jesus said it simply. And so, today I’m asking for a miracle and that it would be God’s will, lest He see fit. I believe that I have received this as I pray for God’s will and His plan alone. He has guided me into this and I declare that I will continue to do one thing alone.
Have faith.
