I mentioned in an earlier blog about being skeptical of the Bible. Since then I have been asking God to reveal to me why this is.

I have always believed that religion divides people and therefore because Christianity is a religion and Christians follow the Bible, I have always associated the Bible with division in unity. Something God has been showing me is my view on the Bible has been really warped because I’ve only ever been exposed to one perspective, and that is that the Bible is another tool to brainwash people into believing yet another false truth.

When opportunities have been presented to me on the other perspective of this topic which is that the Bible is truth and brings unity, I would shut this option out because I felt like the God that I know would not be okay with all of the injustices in this world. When I have heard of Christian presidents in office say on national television that God is telling them to go to war for reasons that later turn out to be lies, I couldn’t wrap my brain around it. When I would ask people why they voted for a corrupted candidate into office and their response being “Well, they are a Christian,” I couldn’t understand. What hurts even more is when I have talked to people about the Bible and they take it so literally that they are okay with corruption because of what the book of Revelations PREDICTS. The book of Revelations predicts that the world will end in a war because of human corruption. My question is why would you be okay with all of this happening just because the Bible PREDICTS it? It made me angry and so confused of who God really is.

In conclusion, I have really guarded my heart by not letting in any kind of religious beliefs EXCEPT for my own experiences and it just so happens that the only faith I’ve ever even felt remotely close to has been Christianity because of my experience with the Lord. But… how could the loving relationship I’ve had with Him have any kind of comparison to these so called Christians that seem to be all about power and greed? This has been the overall battle in my heart for years and I know many other people with the same battle.
SO… as I have asked God these questions he has been revealing His heart to me.

His heart BRAKES for these people in authority (and in general) who misrepresent Christianity. His heart BRAKES for ALL injustices in the world. He has revealed to me that He is always working for the good of those who love him. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” -Romans 8:28
He isn’t trying to lead us astray, but He’s working so hard to mend the brokenness to reveal his glory. “For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.” -Romans 8:20-21

This does not mean God is okay with the hurt in the world, but He allows it to happen because He gave us freewill. WE are choosing these outcomes even though God holds the control. Whatever happens in this world, He will use it to glorify Himself because He is the ultimate source of power and the ultimate Father who is letting us fall and helping us to get back up.

I hope some of my verbal processing in this blog will help any of you who have struggled with belief like I have. As God reveals more to me, I read the Bible a little differently each time. A little more makes sense with every day that passes. I encourage any of you who have doubts to go through this process with me.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Jesus.” -Philippians 4:6-7

Do you ever feel like God doesn’t notice the injustices in this world? Well, He does. He does more than we will ever be able to understand.
