Well – hello there and welcome to my blog FAMILIA!

In order to get better acquainted, I’d like to share a little bit about myself. I’ve contemplated for the past several days about what I would share with you here – and I wanted for this blog post to be perfect. More than that, however, I wanted this blog post to be real. So let me fill you in on who I am and why the World Race

My name is Ana Hortencia Verduzco from a little po-dunk town on the outskirts of Dallas, Texas called Seagoville. I guess you could say, I am a small town gal, trying to make it in the big bad city! I am 31 years young, I am a lover of life and Jesus Christ and this blog is how you can keep up with my adventure in missions!

I am the youngest of 7 siblings. I have 2 sisters and 4 brothers. We’re like a Mexican Brady Bunch! My family and closest childhood friends call me Annie but I am my parents “Corazon” (heart) – that’s what they call me. I live a life filled with adventure, love, and laughter. I’m a professional, career-oriented, strong, independent woman.

I am a free spirit and life enthusiast. I’m a humanitarian and natural helper. I wholeheartedly believe in being the change you wish to see in the world. I try to practice mindfulness and rely heavily on prayer and meditation to navigate my way through this crazy, beautiful life. Despite all that, however, I have also been broken, I am far from perfect and life is not always rainbows and butterflies! However, I am grateful for all the good times and the bad, as they have molded me into who I am now.

Up to this point, I’ve lived a pretty sweet life and have had some of the most amazing experiences and encounters with people that uplift my soul, inspire and encourage me. I like to surround myself with individuals that grow me, mentally, spiritually and intellectually – and now, I am ready to enter a new season in my life’s journey.

So, why the World Race and why do I want to be part of it?

Well let me fill you in: after my divorce about a year and a half ago, I started really growing deeper in my relationship with God and I kept praying and praying for an opportunity for me to get out of Dallas, where I have lived my entire life. In my mind, I was thinking, “what better time than now, to do something bold and adventurous”, like moving away from your hometown.

Well, God answered that prayer and now He has me moving across the globe, trotting around, serving others, living out of a backpack for 11 months, removing me from my comfort zone, walking by faith and not by sight, and trusting Him to lead me on this new journey where I will have the opportunity to really make an impact on the world around me and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Now that you know a little more about me and why I am joining the World Race, I hope you keep following along, come back regularly for more and donate what and when you can. A little bit goes a long way. I will greatly appreciate your support and prayers, while I embark on this new journey. Gracias! XO
