There was a moment back in Amarillo, TX where our team was talking and the question was posed, “What are some of the biggest takeaways from this journey so far?”
For me the answer in that moment was simple.
The Church is alive and active here in the United States. The Holy Spirit is speaking to believers everywhere and they are acting on what He says. Christians everywhere are seeking out the guidance of the Lord. They are loving their communities well and faithfully serving. They are living out their faith and calling others to do the same.
Mainstream media will try to tell us that the Christian Church is dead. That Christians are hateful and intolerant. That the world is too far gone. There’s too much poverty. There’s too much death. Too much destruction. The United States are beyond redemption.
Yes, the world can be a dark place. But I’ve seen far more of the good the Lord is doing than the darkness the enemy tries to spread.
My answer to that initial question was that the more of the world I explore, the more I see the beauty in all situations. The more of the states I explore, the more encouraged I am that things are shifting here!
My biggest encouragement to you is to get out of your normal. Go out into the bright AND dark places. Find the light. Be the light. Don’t take other people’s accounts of our world and run with them. Get out, get your hands dirty. Meet people. Hear stories. Serve. Listen. Experience. Encourage. Be encouraged.
Too far gone? Not yet. Our God is a God who redeems and He’s constantly working things together to bring people close to Him.
