Remember that time I trekked base camp of Mount Everest… In February… And said I was gonna post about it?
Well the time has come… After 3 months… Hope you weren’t holding your breath.

“Everest. What an epic journey. A journey to the top of the world.
Even in the midst of incredible views, crazy physical feats, and countless blessings along the trail, it wasn’t a given to connect with the Lord. I was certain that 8+ hours a day of trekking would be what made space for Jesus time. Just me and Him walking around, casually taking in all the beauty.

Nope.
During that time, I attempted to focus, but was distracted. By good things! By conversations with teammates and connecting with other trekkers. By simply trying to breathe in the high altitude and to put one foot in front of the other without falling off a cliff.
It took intentionality to connect with the Lord. It took constantly choosing to redirect my attention back to Him. Each moment I noticed myself struggling to breathe or focusing on tiredness or hunger or cold, I got to look up and take in the most incredible views I’ve ever experienced.
I was reminded that the God who created the mountains towering over me on every side just wants to hang out with me. He wants to pursue me and He wants me to choose to seek Him out too.

Everest was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done and easily one of the most memorable. In life I think everything really does come back to choice. We can choose comfort. We can choose security. We can choose easy. Or we can choose challenge. Uncertainty. Growth.
When we choose the hard thing the Lord meets us there. If we constantly choose what’s within our own power where’s the room for Him to show up? Where’s the space for our awesome God to show off His awesome?”
This is one was actually our first glimpse of Everest on the trek!
