I’ve been spending an unusual amount of time (or maybe not so unusual) thinking about the different countries I’m going to, the challenges that we will face, and the growth that we will experience. I think something that is going through the mind of every racer is what its going to be like to basically camp for a year in foreign countries where we may or may not be able to communicate with the locals without the aide of a translator.
Here are my thoughts on the matter. To be 100% honest, I only have two concerns because A) regardless of my knowledge of local language, I feel confident in my interpretive dance abilities and B) I’ve seen movies about camping so I’m practically a pro at outdoor survival…right? Let’s focus on the 2 MOST ridiculous things that could possibly concern me.
1. I am going to fry. Literally. Lobster status all the way. I have been researching sunscreen accessibility in other parts of the world, and to my knowledge the only place you can find SPF 100+ is in the comforts of Target. Who knows? Maybe I’ll get a tan (a girl can dream)
2. My joints are going to rise up in revolution and fail me. Hence the title. They will snap, crackle, and pop across the globe. I’ll gladly be taking donations of Aleve and Bengay…you think I’m kidding.
In all seriousness, I’m not worried about the race. I know there are challenges on every trip, but God uses those to help us grow. I am filled with excitement and anticipation as I prepare for this incredible adventure with Christ. As always, your prayer support means the world to me and I can’t wait to share what all God is doing in my life with you!
