Standing in the middle of worship on a Sunday morning I began to feel as though I was standing on air. The people around me began to fade and the lyrics I was singing began to ring a little deeper. I was blissfully unaware of my personal struggles and so my mind became blank allIowing God to imprint his wisdom into my heart.
“I am all he says I am
I am all he says I am
I am all he says I am
and he says I am his own”
I began to listen to these words and see them in a new light. Fluttering memories of recent situations ran through my mind. My heart was moved as the lyrics I sang shattered my pride. The church that hurt me is all that he says they are. The friend that left me behind is all that he says she is. The lady who cut in front of me at Academy is all that he says she is. The family who broke me is all that he says they are.
His love is not just for me. I am not the only person that God loves abundantly. We are each uniquely made. Whether I like you or whether you like me doesn’t really play a role because I am all HE says I am and you are all HE says YOU are. So the next time I am feeling hurt or angry, the next time you step in front me in line at the store I will remember, you are all he says you are. When you distort who I am to those around you, I will remember you are all he says you are. I cannot determine your goodness or your worth based on a single situation because I do not know you fully, but he does. I could know you from day one and still not know you like God knows you. I will never be able to make an all knowing decision because I do not know all things, but he does.
This is a lesson that I am trying to learn. If I cannot begin to practice this kind of faith and love in my life now how can I deliver this properly in other countries. I am thankful for these little seeds of love God plants in me.
Matthew 10:29-31
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
