On the race everyone talks about and warns you of checking out in month 10 and 11. It’s something I never really thought would affect me just because I’m a stay in the present moment kind of person. But it’s something that I did want to pray against just in case I started missing home and my family too much. Every single day I’d pray for my family back home and my family I’ve gotten on the race as well that we just continue to push each other and love each other so that we finish strong.
God answered my prayer for this as He blessed me and the rest of my teammates with an amazing family here in Costa Rica. A family that does ministry together, a family that prays together, a family that eats at the dinner table together, a family that just loves life together. Me having the big family back home that I do I’ve obviously been thriving so much this past month! The only checking out I’ve been doing this month is walking out the door heading towards ministry and heading back home!
I’m in a month that’s so close to being my home back in the states that it’s kind of scary and makes me not want to leave. We push each other, learn from each other, love each other and if needs be we call each other out to better each other. Its unfortunate how many people we’ve come in contact with around the world that doesn’t know that same love. But at the same time it’s so cool to see how the people we have come in contact with over the race invite people into their family.
One of the most important things to realize about family is that not everyone has to be blood related. My family back home consists of people that I’ve met in school but I love them just as much as my blood family. Family is one of the biggest things I’ve had in my life that’s helped me progress. Whether that’s blood related family or best friends family or family I’ve met on the mission field.
If you don’t have a close family fight for that, they have the ability to be your biggest support. If you have a close family continue to fight for them to be close. Don’t be afraid to invite people into your family, it could potentially change so much for them. Family is key in life.
