We’re currently sitting in Malaysia still for our month 8 debrief before flying over to Central America for the last 3 months. First of all, can I just say holy crap we’re already heading into month 9!! But that’s not the point of this blog, the point of this blog is to write of the amazing people we have seen on the race.
We’ve met a ton of amazing people on the race that have showed us a lot of love whom I’ll never forget. We’ve met people that have showed us what true hospitality looks like. We’ve met people who have showed me the true definition of giving. We’ve met people who have inspired me to step up my game when I get home. We’ve met people who have showed me what it’s really like to walk in faith.
You would think that in a month you don’t really get connected to people but if you really pour your heart out and give them everything you have than all you really need is a week, a month is just a perk! This month in Malaysia we had an opportunity to work with a guy named Jit for week. We joked around with him all week saying how we wanted to be just like him when we grew up. The reality of it is though, that I actually do want to be like him.
He gives children a free education for whoever shows up, he feeds up to 40 homeless families every other week. He runs a cross fit gym but not to pay himself, to pay the teachers he has. He would always take us out for lunch and dinner or just coffee and would always insist on paying. And this is just a short list of what this man does. He does all of this and his family hasn’t accepted a pay check in over a year. He literally lives his everyday life living nothing but with faith and it shows.
He told us one night while opening up to us “it’s so hard sometimes because I’m the man of the house and I’m suppose to provide but I have to tell my kids whenever they ask for something that I’ll try to figure out a way.” He admitted that it’s hard for him, and he’s received plenty of good job offers and yet he never takes because that’s not where the Lord wants him.
He’s shown me both amazing hospitality and how to truly live by faith!
