{For those reading this, this is an open letter for my parents who are coming to see me in less than 10 days!!! ‘Umma’ is mom in Korean and ‘appa’ means dad. There is more on PVT at the bottom of this page.}

To say that I cannot wait to see you both here at PVT is an understatement— I’ve been looking forward to seeing you two the most since I’ve started the race.

I can’t wait for all the snacks you’ll be bringing me, including all the American products I “can’t live without”. And of course I can’t wait to see you both! I can’t wait to do ministry together and really just to spend time with you guys. Above all else I’m excited to get to see you both experience our Father’s love through this time together.

But before I get into that I wanted to thank you both…

Thank you for giving me the courage to strive after my dreams and calling.

Thank you for not pushing me to be something the [Korean] world thinks I should be.

Thank you for just letting me dream.

Thanks for being there— through the ups and downs.

Thanks for answering my calls [during the race] with love and patience, even when it was at the crack of dawn on your side.

Thank you for showing me a glimpse of the Father’s love through all the ways you guys love me.

Though I rarely say this, thanks for my brothers— ALL t h r e e of them. God just knew I needed them each in my life, and not sisters, though I said I wished I had a sister when I was little, I can see that I indeed did NOT really want one. (Shoutout to you J bruhs who I miss dearly.)

Above all else, thanks for being willing to make the long journey out to see me here in Draganesti-Olt, Romania, in my groove and happy place. To be willing to do ministry alongside my squadmates and I.

I pray that as you guys arrive here, God will prepare both your hearts, for the people of Romania and for my squadmates, that both your hearts and eyes will be open. I pray for safe travels and protection. I pray that this time together will be meaningful, amazing and impactful in both of your walks with the Lord.

Thanks and see you both really soon!!!

Your dahl,

Wendy

For the rest of you readers:

PVT or Parent Vision Trip is a short-term trip consisting of four to five days, where racers have the chance to invite their parents to come see them and do ministry with them. There is no requirement on the parent’s end of having to be a believer to come on the trip, but there is a small application and interview process, so as long as the racer invited them.

This event usually occurs around month 7, 8 or 9 on the race, which for me, happens to be month 7. While there are differences in how it is setup, racers usually do ministry for half the day with their parents and spend the other half hanging out together. From perks of working in the church office this month (a.k.a with people working on putting together PVT together) I know a little bit about what we’ll be doing, hehehe. But that will remain disclosed until all is confirmed.

Until next week!
