“Every ship needs a crew, especially one anchored in Christ. We are the enjoyable and excellent crew ready for the exciting journey God has in store for us in these waters.”

How did we come up with our name?
When we first got together as a team, after having just learned who our new teammates would be, we prayed. And when we prayed, we each got different visions or words God spoke over us. Jenny got the vision of an anchor, resembling how our team shall continue to be anchored in Christ, in all that we do and are. Then Carolyn shared how she saw us crossing a rickety, old bridge and how adventurous we would be, similar to Kuzco in the movie “Emperor’s New Groove“. We sat on those two images overnight and at our next gathering, which happened to be lunch at a Middle Eastern resturant in Camobida (we’re very cultured), Tori coined the two meanings together and got the “Groovy Crew”. Hence our name was born.

Where are we?
T H A I L A N D! The land of delicious Thai tea and Pad Thai!
We are specifically in the city of Chaing Khong, which is in the northeastern part of Thailand and very close to the Laos border.
We are staying at our host’s home church, Pi Shon here in Chaing Khong.

What are we doing?
We are working with Pastor Somboon, and his foundation, Hmong Developing Quality of Life Foundation. Simply put we are blessed to hang out with high school-aged students daily and pour into them.
We are also working on cleaning out the bottom of the church so they can install a patio and rooms.
Our daily schedule has looked a little like this:
9:00-12:30ish: Work on the church
12:30-4:30: Lunch, bible study/team time/prepare our session with the students
5:00-6:00: Hangout with the students!
6:00-whenever we sleep: Dinner/team time

On that note, I have a prayer request concerning my team:
-Please pray for unity
-For my team to willingly step out into vulnerability.
-Lastly, for intentionality in getting to know each other.

In the mean time here are some more team pictures for you to enjoy 🙂

At a strawberry farm. Sadly the strawberries were not in season.

At Chai’s music school. Chai is our host’s younger brother, and teaches children and young adults how to play either the piano, guitar or drums.
THANKS SO MUCH!
