The past two months have been extremely busy, hard at times, fun and full of surprises. Between having to leave my job, organize the things I will leave in Brazil, making sure I have all the vaccinations to enter all the countries we are working in, and saying goodbye to loved ones I have found myself short of words.
I am currently 10 days out from leaving Brazil one more time. I have downsized all my belongings to 2 plastic bins that are staying, and one luggage with the clothes I did not donate that are coming with me. In the midst of the chaos and unsettled heart is where I felt God’s grace. He has surprised me in wondrous ways, He has also made weary situations turn into lovely ones. And most of all He has calmed me down about fundraising, why you ask?
Because I stink at it.
Fundraising is not easy. To some people it comes naturally, to others it is quite difficult, and that is me. I have an extremely difficult time asking people for money. These past months as I focused on “organizing my life” I kept wondering what else I could do to raise money, and never really finding an answer…
It is going to come to you as a surprise that this post is not because I found the answer to fundraising, this post is just because I was reminded WHY I am raising it. Let me tell you why I have not given up and what this money will allow me and my team to do over seas.
What will we be doing on this mission trip? A bit of everything. Helping and loving on orphans who have been forgotten, running around and laughing with street kids who have been rejected, supporting families who have been left with nothing to survive, helping and being allies to refugees who have fled their countries in hope of safety, talking and showing love to victims of sex trafficking, and so much more.
This last paragraph you have read is the reason I am so proud of going on this trip, and why I am so excited. Up to this point I have raised $8,490, and my next deadline is to have $10,000 by October 1st. Like I said I am still trying to figure it out this whole fundraising business, but I am confident I will not only reach my October goal, but the full $18,017.
Whatever amount you are able to donate, this money is sending me on a life changing journey, and for the people I get to meet, interact and lift up. The whole reason I am doing this is to be with these forgotten lives and love on them, as Christ loved us.
If you are now asking yourself how can you help, there are a few ways.
– You can keep my travels in your prayers and thoughts. And share my blog and story if you think someone might enjoy this journey.
— You can help me Financially. The $18,017 will cover all my lodging, health, food and travel. To help towards this you can click on the donate button on the top of the page and choose to either become a “monthly partner”, or to give a “one time gift”
— You can also help me with my backpacking gear, shoot me an email and we can talk about what I don’t have.
To my supporters, I want to thank you one more time for you to know how deeply I appreciate the financial, and prayer support. I couldn’t do this without you! It amazes me how generous everyone is! Thanks to your generosity!
