TO LOVE MORE, AND FEAR LESS…
It’s what I aim for on a daily basis, but I’m a human and that statement is much easier said than done. Love is a decision we have to make and there are moments when its easier not to love. It’s easy to love when things are good, but what about when times are tough, when we disagree, when we are stressed, or when someone isn’t kind to us? Love can be hard. I constantly have to remind myself what love looks like, because it’s not always flowers, chocolate, and hallmark cards.
1 Corinthians 13 tells us God’s vision of love. It says, “Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, doesn’t have a swelled head, doesn’t force itself on others, isn’t always “me first,” doesn’t fly off the handle, doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, doesn’t revel when others grovel, takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, puts up with anything, trusts God always, always looks for the best, never looks back, but keeps going to the end.” [MSG translation]
Can you picture that? I can; but, it points me to several situations that I’ve fallen short of having that kind of love. Several!
But thank you Jesus!!! His love came down and rescued me. His love came down and rescued you, too! So what do we have to fear? God loves us more in a moment than anyone could in a lifetime. Lysa Terkeurst said “[His] love isn’t based on me. It’s simply placed on me. And its the place from which I should live… loved.” If we live in a way that reflects how much God loves us, we’ll be able to love more like Him. (reason #143 for going on this trip) If I spend more time living like I am loved, I will be able to love more, and fear less!
I want others to see how amazing His love is!
I want to love out loud, and love without fear!
