I AM TREKKING TO MOUNT EVEREST’S BASE CAMP!!
My squad has been offered an incredible opportunity to hike to the base camp of Mount Everest while we are in Nepal.
We will get the chance to trek for 12 days along side our fellow adventure fanatics
We will ascend for 9 days to the camp and 3 days back
In that time we will be living in community with people from all walks of life
– Christians
– Non Christians
– People seeking to find something greater than themselves
– People from other religions (Buddhist is a prevalent religion for people on this trek)
– Children and adults
– People from a variety of countries
– Our tour guides and porters
– And I’m sure many many more
We get the opportunity to take a once in a lifetime experience and create a mission field out of it
We get to do life along side people while displaying our faith, building relationships, loving well, earning the right to be heard and perhaps being given the opportunity to share the gospel!
I am incredibly excited to embark on this adventure because it allows us to take a real life event (going on a grand adventure) and learn how to make it ministry.
After the race I may not be called to be a full-time missionary, however, I am called to be a life-long missionary wherever the Lord takes me.
That means taking day-to-day life and learning how it can be a mission field.
So that’s what I am going to do!
I am going to trek to the base camp of Mount Everest. I am going to take this once in a lifetime opportunity and learn how it can be a mission field.
I don’t know exactly what that looks like but I am dedicated to find out by, asking the Lord every morning and being lead by His Holy Spirit every day!
Because this was not the original plan for our trip, it requires extra prayer and finances.
I would LOVE for you to hike to Mount Everest‘s base camp with me by supporting me in prayer and finances.
Prayer:
– That God would teach us how to make everyday life and once in a life time experiences, a mission field
– That God’s hand of protection would be over us as we trek for 12 days (that no one would get altitude sickness)
– That we would invest in relationships with those around us to reflect God‘s love well
– That we would have opportunities to share the word of God with people of all walks of life
– That I wouldn’t freeze my tushy off… this Texas girl is not used to Everest temperatures
