december 20th: the bush in botswana. during the week of christmas we were camping in Samochema, a small village within the bush with an extended church family kindly hosting us. being there was everything I’ve desired for so long, whether I knew it or not. life here is simple. work is limited, people are desperate for jobs, anything to support their families. alcoholism and traditional witchcraft haunted the village. rape was common. The first couple of days we walked around evangelizing, praying against confusion, praying for fresh eyes to See and experience the God I know, praying for hope- praying miraculous prayers. Between the two teams in Samochema, we witnessed 14 physical healings, and 40 people chose eternity. A blind woman saw sunlight for the first time in fourteen years. Bones that creaked and ached danced. I can’t put into words the urgency and reverence this week instilled in me. your prayers matter, they bend reality. boldly and expectant, god’s alive.

january 14th:
made it to south africa, living at popup ministry, more to come. i’ve been praying to become sober to his reality, to see with his eyes, to feel with him.
pop-up is crazy, they believe in equipping the local community with life skills through an education program essentially to provide people with jobs. life skills courses include plumbing, eye doctor, hospitality, welding, agriculture etc. In Soshanguve, the campus I’m living at has a green house, in the morning we work here, weeding and such. the vision for the garden is for the community to freely plant fruits and vegetables, Glad, the garden man, is teaching “sustainable farming, god’s way.” it’s genius. in the afternoons we go on walks, starting up conversations, encouraging people if they need encouragement, sharing the gospel, making friends.

it’s nice here. more to come.
