Today I am driving down to Georgia to officially start the crazy World Race journey. Training camp doesn’t start until Thursday, but most of my squad mates and I are getting together before hand to get to know each other before camp.
I don’t know if I have ever been this excited for something.
Since I was accepted to this crazy adventure, I have spent hours reading packing lists and stressing about what I would bring, and as of yesterday I am all packed. There are still a few things I will need before I actually leave, but I have all the necessary equipment.
There were so many obstacles that popped up as I have been working towards this week. Fundraising, purchasing equipment, travel to Georgia, and at every turn God and enabled it to happen. I have been so blessed by the generosity of friends and family, and have been blown away by how God works in our lives in ways that we don’t always expect.
Training camp will be hard. We will be exhausted, it is scheduled to thunderstorm every day so we will probably be wet, we will be pushed to our limits to see how we work together. We will be dropped into situations to see if we sink or swim. We will spend a night in a fake airport terminal to see if we can sleep. We will be given our team assignments and learn how to work together as a group.
I am so excited for this whole journey to finally officially begin, and I cannot wait to tell stories of camp and the shenanigans my squad and I can get into over the next few days. God has already blessed me so much with the friendship of these absolutely wonderful people, and getting to actually have a conversation that is not over text or Skype is something all of us have been looking forward to for a while.
I know God is doing some amazing stuff in all of our lives, and I can’t wait to see how much I will grow and learn in my faith over the next three weeks. I would really appreciate prayer for myself and my squad mates that we can all learn to get along and grow together and have patience with each other as we are pushed in many different ways.
This is really, finally happening and I could not be more excited.
