“You were created to bear the weight of my glory”

My name has many meanings. For example, in the Indian language of Malayalam, my name means Lotus. In Hebrew, my name means spice or palm tree.

You see, during a hurricane or storm, you never really see or hear of a palm tree breaking in half. During whirlwinds of wind they sway back and forth in a pretty violent way. They often become uprooted, but they are rarely ever broken. They are built to endure the storm.

That being said, Wednesday night during worship at church, I saw a picture of a palm tree swaying in a violent wind. I asked the Lord to really show me what this means.

“We shall also bear the image of the heavenly man.” 1 Corinthians 15:49

Through this image, Jesus was reminding me of the meaning of my name. I am not only built to endure hard ship and trials, but also fashioned in such a way to bear the image of his glory.

I am just reminded of a beautiful classic song by John Mark Mcmillan. This song often makes me weep and really ties in how I’m feeling about the significance of who I am and who I am called to be, the image bearer of Christ. My name meaning Palm Tree makes it all the more sweet.
