My leader Lo encouraged me to keep track of the small wins that happen throughout the day. I love this because it allows me to reflect on the good and the beautiful that happens each day even in the small things. Life is amazing no matter where we are or what we are doing, it's a positive and greatful mindset that makes it that way. I am striving to do this every day of 2018, here are some of mine from January!
– ?rang in the new year with a bonfire over the Zambezi River with African worship, fireworks and children dancing
– finding out both mom and dad are coming to PVT
– ?finally deworming myself
– ?we get to wear pants in town but it was actually so relieving to come home to the village and put a skirt on
– ?visiting a market, watching a women weave an intricate sweater … by hand and then getting to pray over her
– getting the opportunity to go into one of the surrounding villages to tell a boy that he now has a sponsor
– ?leading a bible study in Sugar Village
– ?finding out our bus broke down on the way from Malawi and thay we get to stay in Zambia an extra day ( fingers crossed maybe longer )
– jumping off the pier at Lake Malawi and swimming to a boat in the middle of the lake
– Had to say goodbye to all the kids I made friends with from on the beach but it was sweet because there was probably around twenty of them and they all gave me hugs and high fives and waved until I couldn't see them anymore as the bus drove away
– ?story time with Taylor about a murder mystery on the bus for almost two hours while watching the sunset over the Malawian mountains and rolling fields
– exploring around campus and getting to swim laps in a real live 25 m pool
– ?trying all the methods to rid our hut of a bat, throwing shoes, turning the lights off, making noises, poking it with tent poles… it's still here
– ?eating veggie stir-fry!!!!!!!!  So much veggies
– ?hung pictures of my family to make my bunk bed area all cute and homey
– got two minutes of training then got sat down at the front desk at the clinic to file insurance claims, so random
– ?thrift shopping
– celebratory smoothies and dried mangos after a day at the clinic
– ?taking pictures and videos of the kids in the village to show them, when they see them they let our big belly laughs, it's priceless
– ?our first potluck… Oh the potluck, guac and tacos and the most white people I've seen in a while
– took am intro to ballet class
– drying in the sun after lessons
– ?running a 5k
Take time to appreciate those little things that make your heart happy and have a great day!
Love,
Sydney
