Sitting in our team time last night, we were asked the question, “What do you have that others might need?” Usually we answer the questions for ourselves and talk about why we answered them the way we did, but last night, Agape did it a little differently. We went around the room taking time to speak life and things we have noticed about each other over the last four and a half months.
When they got to me, all that was running through my head was “Oh gosh what possibly could people have noticed about me?”
Not even a second later, one of my teammates says “Shane, one thing I’ve noticed is that God literally placed a gift in front of you, and instead of simply taking the gift, you turned back to Him and let it change the way you view and treat people for the better. You took the gift and found how the Lord was calling you higher and that is very admirable.”
When I heard this, it really opened my eyes to how much change I have experienced over the past four and a half months. People had been telling me that they see the change and I was always like “Yeah… ok… thank you.” But now I can see it.
I had heard that the World Race changes you but I didn’t exactly know what that would look like for me. Someone told me at our month one debrief that she heard the Lord telling me “Let me soften your heart” and He has.
For those that knew me before I left, I’m not the same person who left a few months ago. The Lord has softened my heart. It breaks for what breaks His, and it loves others the way He loves us.
